Homo Faber is a first major cultural exhibition dedicated to European craftsmanship. Highlighting the skills, knowledge and creativity of Europe’s finest artisans and designers Created by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, its first edition took place in Venice during September 2018. Duvelleroy was invited to present its know-how. For that special occasion, four unique hand-fans were created with master craftsmen. Maxime Leroy is a French feather artisan, whose distinctive style has been recognized by many including the prestigious Palais de Tokyo in Paris. For the Homo Faber exhibition, he interprets Venice’s most iconic emblem, the Winged Lion.
Juxtaposing innovation and classicism, Maxime Leroy takes on a never seen before approach for his creation. The hand-fan consists of various components including Bronze wild-turkey plumes, box calf leather and mirrored plexiglass and uses “remplumé collé” and laser cutting.
