Duvelleroy presents the "Nouvelle Fantaisie" capsule collection.
Three fan objects, with fabrics in shifting tones that celebrate the Parisian "froufrou" spirit as it appeared in the original house's catalogs at the beginning of the 20th century.
The cabriolet shape is a classic form in the repertoire of French fans. It features an opening between the grand tour (the upper edge of the fan leaf) and the petit tour (the lower edge of the fan leaf). Its name refers to the wheels of 18th-century horse-drawn carriages.
The Nouvelle Fantaisie Cabriolet fan is made of tricolored lurex.
Know How
The technical difficulty of this piece lies in the fact that the artisan must freehand cut the lurex leaf in a single motion to create the characteristic opening of the cabriolet shape. The two parts of the leaf are then pleated and assembled.
Materials
Ebony sourced from Central Africa, shaped by a craftsman in Spain. Lurex made of silk and polyester.
